Grief and
Complicated Circumstances
Mt. Hood Hospice recognizes that not all grief is the same.
Group Details
When difficult personalities, substance use, mental health challenges, estrangement, abuse or neglect are part of the relationship, it can add extra layers to the grief. Grief is more than the things we lose. It is also about the things we didn’t have or the experiences that shouldn’t have happened to us.
These groups are designed to be a safe space to explore the ways in which our imperfect relationships impact our grief. They are opportunities to talk openly with others who also had difficult relationship dynamics with their people.
Phone calls and community groups are offered free of charge.
Most groups are hosted on Zoom for ease of access unless they are marked in-person. Support is available in helping you access internet based groups using a computer, smart phone or a landline.
Groups after a death
Grief and Complicated Circumstances Social hour ON-GOING Thursdays 11:30-12:30 am Online
An informal conversation group for those who had challenging relationships with their loved one. The topics are chosen by those who attend.
Grief and Complicated Circumstances education TBD
This group is designed to help those who had complicated circumstances such as challenging relationship dynamics and/ or substance use involvement connected to their loved one. We will learn about grief, explore our own grief process and connect with others who are sharing a similar journey of grief.
Special attention to how these challenging dynamics can influence our grief is a focus of this group.

About Mt. Hood Hospice
Mt. Hood Hospice has been providing care and bereavement support to families in Multnomah and Clackamas Counties for 43 years. We are a not-for-profit, free standing, independent, community-based hospice.
Mt. Hood Hospice was the first free-standing hospice in Oregon to be granted Medicare certification in 1987. Since that time we have stayed current in compliance with changing CMS regulations while remaining true to our original ideal: to provide the highest quality care to families coping with life-limiting illness, emphasizing comfort, dignity and choice.
MT. HOOD HOSPICE CELEBRATES 43 YEARS!
We are a not-for-profit Hospice that provides quality care for terminally ill patients and their loved ones,
regardless of their ability to pay.
Living with a Terminal Illness
When a loved one is diagnosed with a terminal illness, the lives of those close to them are impacted as well. It's important to learn as much as you can about the illness. The more information you have, the more in control you will feel. Learn more.
What You Need to Know
Hospice care is covered 100% by Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance. You can choose your hospice! Every Medicare beneficiary with Part A entitlement has a Medicare Hospice Benefit allowing them services from ANY Medicare certified hospice. This is regardless of their enrollment in any HMO. We care for people in residential facilities as well as at home. Learn more.
