Questions to Ask Your Doctor
Knowledge is power. Don’t be afraid to ask your doctor.
Formulating Your Questions
When meeting with your doctor to discuss your recent diagnosis, write down your questions prior to your visits. Tell your doctor that you welcome his or her honesty and ask for clarification if needed. It also can be helpful to bring someone you can trust to take notes so you can review what you talked about later.
Are there any additional treatment options for my diagnosis? If yes, will this treatment prolong my life? For how long?
If you choose not to have treatments or choose to stop treatment, ask your doctor:
- How long might I live and what will my quality of life be with my illness?
- Would I benefit from hospice at this time?
About Mt. Hood Hospice
Mt. Hood Hospice has been providing care and bereavement support to families in Multnomah and Clackamas Counties for 43 years. We are a not-for-profit, free standing, independent, community-based hospice.
Mt. Hood Hospice was the first free-standing hospice in Oregon to be granted Medicare certification in 1987. Since that time we have stayed current in compliance with changing CMS regulations while remaining true to our original ideal: to provide the highest quality care to families coping with life-limiting illness, emphasizing comfort, dignity and choice.
MT. HOOD HOSPICE CELEBRATES 43 YEARS!
We are a not-for-profit Hospice that provides quality care for terminally ill patients and their loved ones,
regardless of their ability to pay.
